Mission Statement

Hiawatha Behavioral Health partners with consumers and community groups to support a quality life for individuals with severe mental/emotional illness, developmental disabilities and those experiencing a crisis, by facilitating resilience, recovery, independence, and optimal health.

To serve as a catalyst for positive social change, promote a philosophy of recovery, and assure the highest quality of behavioral health services in our community.

1. Improve efficiency through technology applications
2. Expand support options for consumers
3. Develop integration models with primary care in each county
4. Expand substance abuse credentialing among clinical staff
5. Explore options for increased access to psychiatry
6. Explore options to expand access to transportation
7. Expand awareness in, and education of self determination
8. Increase consumer options for competitive employment
9. Improve internal communication
10. Develop wellness initiatives for staff at each site
11. Develop and implement action plan for positive cultural change
12. Improve services to individuals with developmental disabilities
13. Comply with staffing/service requirements under new Autism parity law
